The MP for Skeena-Bulkley Valley says the latest departure from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls should serve as a wakeup call to the Liberal government.
Debbie Reid quit her post as executive director Thursday after just a few months on the job.
Nathan Cullen says the swinging door of departures at the Inquiry’s most senior levels can no longer be ignored by the Prime Minister.
Cullen says victim families deserve a focused effort to examine the systemic causes of violence experienced by Indigenous women and girls.
He says it’s unfathomable for commissioners and the federal government to ask Canadians to believe the inquiry’s work is not be severely disrupted by the constant upheaval.
