The Ministry of Transportation has closed down a section of Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert due to high avalanche hazard.
Officials say the route is closed 13 km east of the Port Edward turnoff to 35 km west of Terrace.
The region has been hit with a wallop snow and rain since Monday afternoon.
The highway is expected to be closed until 12:00 noon on Wednesday.
