The Ministry of Transportation says Highway 16 could close later today because of avalanche risk between Terrace and Prince Rupert.
Officials have issued an avalanche alert from 13 km east of the Port Edward Turnoff to 35 km west of Terrace.
The highway is currently open but may close later this afternoon.
The next update is scheduled for 2 p.m.
