Smithers RCMP say an elementary school and a health clinic were locked down Monday as police dealt with reports of a distraught man with a gun.
Police say they got a call about the male who had apparently left his some and was expressing thoughts of harming himself.
While there was no immediate threat related to the general public, Smithers Mounties locked down the school and clinic as a precaution and called in the Emergency Response Team and a police dog.
RCMP say the man was found safe and sound later and there were no injuries.
An investigation is continuing and police will be seeking charges.
