A number of northern BC municipalities will benefit from the latest round of federal gas tax funding announced Friday
The Village of Granisle will get over $ 5 million for construction of a water treatment plant.
The Village of Queen Charlotte on Haida Gwaii is in line for $4 million to fund the Transportation Network Improvement Project.
The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine will use $4.78 million dollars in federal gas tax money to upgrade water services in the Hazelton area.
The regional district says the project will see 210 residents living in the Lower Two Mile Community get safe and affordable municipal water service, which it says will improve public health, fire protection standards, and help to strengthen the Hazleton area.
Residents will provide the balance of the total cost of the project, estimated at $4.9 million.
A total of 108 projects have been approved and four have been conditionally approved for nearly $193 million from the federal Gas Tax Fund.
