The Bulkley Valley School District is providing more details about a threat made last week.
The district says it became aware Friday morning of what it calls a “worrisome video” posted online related to Smithers Secondary School.
While officials say there was no specific threat, the Community Violence Threat Risk Assessment team was immediately activated and determined there was no safety concern for students or staff.
RCMP last Friday said that they had made one arrest in connection with the incident and that any threat will be treated seriously.
In a news release, Superintendent Chris van der Mark says that is all the information the district is able to share at this time due to an ongoing police investigation.
Van der Mark asks students, staff, and parents to immediately notify the school or the authorities about anything that doesn’t look or feel right.
He thanked school and district staff for their work along with RCMP for their quick response.
