BC Hydro will be replacing over 9000 wooden power poles across province over the next few months, including about 1700 across the north.
The utility says poles usually last between 40 and 50 years, but eventually weaken and deteriorate due to weather, insects, and wildlife.
Hydro says 160 wooden poles are slated for replacement in Terrace, 200 in Smithers, 190 in Burns Lake, and 250 around Williams Lake.
BC Hydro says crews will notify customers in person, by mail, or phone about any scheduled power outages for pole replacement work.
