Prince Rupert RCMP says the city has been experiencing a recent trend in break and enters over the last couple of months.
A gold chain and $600.00 worth of toonies were stolen from a residence in the 900 block of Prince Rupert Boulevard March 3.
The home owner left for work at 8:00 that morning and returned home for lunch at noon to find that a window had been pried open. They noticed a jar containing toonies as well as a gold necklace missing during a search of the home.
The Prince Rupert Forensic Identification Services have been working on this case as well as general duty police officers conducting neighbourhood inquiries looking for witnesses to this event.
The Prince Rupert RCMP want to remind home and business owners to look and secure doors and windows. Police want to also remind the public to contact the Prince Rupert RCMP if they see anything suspicious or out of place in their neighbourhood.
