The Joint Rescue Coordination Center responded to calls yesterday morning of a boat taking on water off the coast of Prince Rupert.
Three coast guard vessels, as well as the RCM SAR were dispatched to the site 32 kilometers off the coast of Prince Rupert.
Upon arrival, crews discovered the 72 foot fishing boat, later identified as the ‘Western Commander’, taking on heavy water.
The three crew members were rescued and transferred to land with one requiring medical assistance.
The 70 year-old man later passed away, though no specifics are being released at this time.
