A fuel sheen has been spotted near the site where a fishing vessel sank Monday.
The BC Environment Ministry says the Western Commander had about 2,000 litres of diesel on board when it sank west of Prince Rupert.
While no pollution was observed the day the fishing boat went down, the Coast Guard reported a sheen of fuel about 40 metres wide Tuesday.
Ministry officials say the sheen was moving northwest away from land and it will provide updates as they become available.
Three crew members were rescued from the fishing boat Monday, but one of them, 70 year-old Clyde Dudoward, passed away after suffering a medical incident.
