The government announced a new surgical and diagnostic strategy today that will see a reduction in wait times and a 70 percent increase in MRI exams.
Hospitals in Prince Rupert, Kitimat, and Dawson Creek, are expected to benefit from the updates of the program.
Approximately 11 million dollars in funding is being made available to help support the increase in demand for MRIs in the North.
As of last year, over 30 percent of patients waiting for hip and knee surgeries waited for over 26 weeks.
A new strategy will make use of 75 million in funding through the next two years to reduce these wait times.
