A BC-based company has signed a long-term contract to supply industrial wood pellets to a Japanese firm.
Under the deal, Pinnacle Renewable Holdings will supply up to 70,000 metric tons of pellets a year to Ube Industries starting in late 2019.
Pinnacle CEO Robert McCurdy says the new contract builds on the company’s strong sales momentum in the growing Japanese market.
McCurdy says biomass is poised to become an increasingly important part of the country’s energy mix.
Pinnacle operates seven wood pellet plants across BC and the owns the Westview terminal at the Port of Prince Rupert.
