Local governments will be receiving an influx of funding from the provincial government thanks to community grants and traffic sharing revenue.
Approximately 108 million dollars total will be handed out from the Regional District Grant and Traffic Fine Revenue Sharing programs.
In the Northwest, Terrace will receive over 572 thousand, Prince Rupert will garner 601 thousand, Quesnel will match that, Kitimat gains 533 thousand, Smithers will be awarded 605 thousand, while Prince George will gain the most in the north with more than 1 million in funding.
The grants are unconditional and local governments are free to spend the money however they see fit.
