High winds have led to growing wildfires and two expanded evacuation orders in the Bulkley-Nechako.
This afternoon, the District issued expanded orders for both the Shovel Lake wildfire evacuation zone, and more recently, the Nadina Lake evacuation zone.
The Shovel Lake area now extends from Taltapin Lake to the Sutherland FSR.
Nadina Lake’s orders now stretch to the Tahtsa FSR to the west, Ootsa Lake to the East, and Carroll Road to the north.
The 12,000 hectare Nadina Lake Fire is located approximately 60 km south of Houston and is burning in a northeast direction.
Residents are asked to evacuate the areas immediately and make their way to a reception centre.
You can find detailed maps of evacuation areas and lists of reception centres at the District’s website.
