Firefighters made significant progress over the weekend in their efforts to quell the Alkali Lake Wildfire burning near Telegraph Creek.
According to information officer Heather Rice, heavy winds may have actually assisted crews in containing the 31 thousand hectare blaze over the weekend.
While crews of over 150 firefighters, 13 helictopters, and 21 pieces of heavy equipment continue to put effort in to clearing the roads, they remain very dangerous.
BC Hydro crews were able to restore power to most of the Telegraph Creek area over the weekend, and crews have now shifted their focus to the Sawmill Lake area.
An evacuation order is still in effect as weather conditions continue to create problems for teams on site.
