Significant activity on the Verdun wildfire yesterday saw numerous evacuation zones expanded as the fire now sits at 54 hundred hectares.
The aggressive activity of the blaze yesterday threatened guards that had been set up by crews, though they appear to be holding for the moment.
17 additional structural support crew members have been added to the crews to help strengthen guards today.
In addition, 16 helicopters are on site working to quell fires on the extremities of the blaze to prevent it from spreading further.
