Moderate weather expected for today is allowing crews on the Alkali Lake wildfire to focus on clearing Highway 51.
The Highway has been closed for some time as crews continue to fight the 39 thousand hectare blaze, but cool and calm weather today means they can finally begin to assess the roads.
On top of the roads, the 153 personnel currently on site will continue to minimize the damage to structures in the Telegraph Creek and Glenora communities.
Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure employees as well as those from BC Hydro are on site today assessing repairs.
Crews will spend the day establishing secure protection for additional structures on the south and east boundaries of the fire.
