Smaller communities in BC are set to benefit from two new funding streams made possible by a partnership between the Federal and Provincial governments.
Rural, remote, and Indigenous communities with less than 25 thousand residents will gain access to 95 million dollars in funding thanks to the new Rural and Northern Communities Fund.
The fund will support projects that improve infrastructure such as connectivity, transportation, reliable energy, and Indigenous health and education facilities.
Communities with 5 thousand or less residents will be able to apply to have projects 100 percent funded, while those with between 5 and 25 thousand can apply for 90 percent funding.
On top of that, a separate investment of 134 million dollars is being made to go towards improving sports facilities, community centres, and arts and culture.
That funding will come from the new Community, Culture, and Recreation Fund.
