A fresh 4 thousand dollar grant is giving the Prince Rupert Fire Department reason to celebrate during Fire Prevention Week next week.
The money comes from Pembina’s Fire Safety Grant, and will go towards funding efforts that support seniors and youths.
Thanks to the funding, firefighters will be installing 72 new smoke detectors for seniors in the city, and supplying new, targeted, safety guides to both elementary school students and senior citizens.
Pembina’s Fire Safety grant is an annual fund which assists more than 50 communities in Canada and the US with fire prevention funding each year.
