Despite Transportation Minister Claire Trevena’s announcement that 83 percent of Greyhound routes would soon be covered, uncertainty still remains as the company’s time in western Canada runs thin.
By the end of the day, Greyhound will have finished its last routes in BC, and will leave many communities without bus service.
This morning, Federal Minister Marc Garneau restated his government’s promise to help, but continued to issue no timeline or monetary amount.
Even Trevena’s announcement failed to offer a timetable, only stating that the routes would be covered by year’s end.
Neither level of government confirmed any actual financial support.
When all is said and done, at least 8 previously covered rural sections of northern and central BC will find themselves without bus service tomorrow.
