The B.C. government says its newly minted Conservation Officers are settling in to their news posts throughout the province, including the north.
Haida Gwaii, Bella Coola, Mackenzie, and Chetwynd are some of the regions that got newly created CO positions.
Terrace, Quesnel, Prince George, and Fort St. John received officers to fill existing openings.
Of the 20 new Conservation Officers, 16 are fresh out of the Western Conservation Law Enforcement Academy in Hinton, Alberta and will spend the next six months working with a field trainer.
The other four officers come from law enforcement jurisdictions elsewhere.
The province says the new faces represent the largest influx of recruits the B.C. Conservation Officer Service has had in a decade.
