Stewart RCMP say their call for help in a historical missing persons case paid off quickly,
The detachment issued a media release last Friday looking for family members of Gerhard Krausnig of Smithers, who was reported missing after a boating mishap on the Nass River in 1977.
Constable Rob Gardner says the release was sent out Friday afternoon and by dinner time that night, the detachment had made contact with Krausnig’s family.
Gardner says the investigation will continue and if DNA is collected from a family member, it can be added to the National Missing Persons DNA data bank and use to help identify any remains that may be found.
Stewart RCMP thank the public and the media for their assistance.
