A section of Highway 16 west of Terrace could be down to single-lane alternating traffic until the end of the week.
A rockslide came down across the road Sunday morning between Shames Mountain Road and Gagnon Road, approximately 10 km outside the city.
The B.C. Ministry of Transportation says crews have conducted an assessment of the rock wall above the highway and work to stabilize the rock slab is expected to get underway on Wednesday.
The ministry says the road will be reduce to alternating traffic until stabilization work can be completed and the remaining debris is removed from the road.
Officials anticipate both lanes of Highway 16 could be open by the end of the week.
