Six new radar installations will assist ships travelling through narrow and challenging waterways off BC’s coast.
The new installations will fill gaps between the northern end of the Georgia Strait and Queen Charlotte, as well as those off the coast of Prince Rupert.
One of the new radars, in particular, will be positioned off the coast of Bella Coola near the site of Nathan E Stewart tugboat crash in 2016.
Expanded and upgraded radar coverage is just one of the promises made in the 1.5 billion dollar Oceans Protection Plan announced in Prince Rupert in June.
