Did you hear an alert on your radio or the buzzing on your mobile?
B.C conducted a test of the new wireless alerting system at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday as part of the national Alert Ready system.
The broadcast and wireless announcements are meant to warn residents about everything from tsunamis to Amber Alerts.
It’s the second test of the expanded system since cellular devices were added in April of this year.
While the the alert is supposed to reach everyone equipped with up-to-date, compatible, LTE-connected mobile phone, not everyone got the initial test earlier this spring and others received it later.
Alert Ready is a collaborative initiative between federal-provincial-territorial governments and industry partners meant to warn residents about imminent or rapidly unfolding hazards to life.
