Northern Health has approved a 5 year plan which aims to use innovative technology and ideas to make quality health care more accessible for all.
The health authority has partnered with the First Nations Health Authority to bring Telehealth to northern BC in an effort to improve care in rural and remote communities.
Telehealth uses advanced videoconferencing monitors to allow medical information to be transfered to specialists at other hospitals in real time.
This means that residents of communities without access to certain specialists will be able to access the care they need without the need to travel long distances.
