A boil water notice issued by the City of Prince Rupert on Friday is being continued in to today.
A dry summer combined with a recent storm surge event has led to debris being discovered in the City’s water supply.
Samples taken from the water indicate increased levels of cryptosporidium and giardia levels in the water as a result of the debris.
While the advisory is active, residents are asked to boil all water for at least 1 minute before consuming.
This includes water being used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or washing food.
Northern Health and the City will continue to monitor levels and residents will be notified when the order is issued.
