A downward trend in home assessment values in Kitimat predictably came to an end last year.
In July of 2018, the average home in Kitimat was valued at just over 235 thousand dollars, compared to just under 196 thousand in 2017.
While July was the most recent officialt assessment, the BC Assessment Authority says prices continued to climb by as much as 30 percent over the third quarter of 2018, compared to the July 2017 figures.
The increase ends a streak of several years of dropping prices on the heels of LNG Canada’s 40 billion dollar investment in its Kitimat project.
