As Prince Rupert prepares to cap off its 4th straight week without clean water, concerns over the City’s water filtration systems are justifiably on the rise.
Despite having a population of more than 12 thousand people, the City finds itself behind neighbouring communities totalling less than 600 residents combined.
In 2004, Port Edward completed a 3.7 million dollar state-of-the-art facility, and Metlakatla has had a top line plant since 1994.
Prince Rupert has been managing a declining water treatment system for nearly two decades, and are currently attempting to acquire funding for a new water treatment facility.
Northern Health has previously recommended the City take action to improve their water by March of this year.
