Innovative new strategies are being employed by the Bulkley Valley School District to help improve the emotional and mental health of students.
To help incorporate new curriculums focusing on social and emotional health introduced in BC, the District has brought in a Social Emotional Helping Teacher.
Providing a fresh way to approach emotional health outcomes, the SEHT works with teachers to assist the entire classroom in a group atmosphere, rather than in an individual capacity.
In this format, the SEHT attends 3 to 4 sessions alongside the class’s usual teacher after working with them on a plan.
With this method, teachers can better implement the new emotional curriculum through collaboration.
