Just under 100 thousand dollars in grant funding is on the way to help implement a Community Food Hub Transition project in Burns Lake.
BC’s Rural Dividends Fund is providing the money to the Lakes District Family Enhancement Society under their special circumstances provision.
With the funding, the Society will be able to undergo the planning, infrastructure design, and staff recruitment required to transform the Lakes District Food Bank in to a community hub.
Prioritizination was given to this project to help rural and First Nations communities in the area recover from wildfires and the state of the forestry industry.
