Rio Tinto and the University of Northern BC have announced a three-year partnership.
The company will provide $450,000 towards UNBC programs that “promote their mutual interest and values”.
The focus will centre on research and analysis of the socio-economic state within the Nechako Watershed, the environment, and hands-on student learning.
The partnership is also expected to include internships and co-operative placements with Rio Tinto across a range of disciplines.
The funding was announced Tuesday at the B.C. Natural Resources Forum in Prince George.
