Telkwa and Smithers are filing a joint grant application with the aim of bringing better equipment and training to emergency personnel.
Through the Union of BC Municipalities Community Emergency Preparedness Fund, the two communities hope to pull down 50 thousand dollars in funding.
Money from the grant would go towards purchasing a better radio system that will incorporate various forms of communication, purchasing weather stations, an providing emergency operations training for staff.
Smithers will be the overall manager of the application.
