After a month and a half, Prince Rupert is finally able to downgrade their boil water notice to a water quality advisory.
Northern Health allowed the downgrade following three weeks of consecutive satisfactory test results showing no cryptosporidium.
According to the City, they have now had more than 5 consecutive clear samples.
While the notice was for both cryptosporidium and giardia, the giardia is less of a focus as it can be countered with chlorine treatments.
A water quality advisory is the lowest level of risk and remains in place as simply a precaution.
Still, Northern Health recommends you still boil water intended for consumption by children under 2, the elderly, and those with existing medical conditions.
Northern Health will continue to test samples from the city twice per week.
