Terrace RCMP are investigating a car-jacking and an attempted home invasion in Thornhill Thursday night.
Mounties say a man sitting in his truck on Desjardines Avenue near the tennis courts shortly at about 6:10 when he heard car doors.
He looked out his window and saw a man with a gun pointed at him. Police say the driver was attacked and robbed before the gunman and another man took off with his truck.
RCMP say at around 6:05 p.m., an armed man tried to enter a residence nearby on Hagen Street, but investigators don’t know if the two incidents are related.
The first suspect in the truck theft is described as a man, 6 feet tall, 20-30 years old with a slim build and wearing a hoodie.
The second suspect is described as a heavier man wearing a hoodie.
The stolen vehicle is a blue-grey 2013 Dodge 1500 pickup truck with BC license plate JC-8585.
Officers are working to get to the bottom of this and find those responsible,
said Inspector Jayson Lucash in a news release. Terrace is a still a small, tight-knit community. Historically, this kind of activity, an armed robbery of a vehicle, is rare. We’re asking residents to be diligent in their neighbourhoods. If you see a vehicle that looks suspicious, if unusual activity starts creeping up, call police.
The suspect in the attempted home invasion is described as a white man, early to mid-20s, wearing a black Helly Hansen jacket, jeans, and ball cap.
