Terrace City Council is set to review their fire prevention bylaw after a visit from a concerned resident yesterday.
Vince Heslenfeld requested council amend a section of the bylaw prohibiting all burning in residential zones.
According to Heslendeld, burning on his property has never bothered any neighbours until recently, and was the only practical way to removed wood waste from his property.
After receiving a recent complaint, Heslenfeld attempted other methods, such as the dump or curbside pickup, but all posed either physical risks, or financial drain.
Most of the items in question are waste from trees and other plants, and can pose an increased forest fire risk if simply left on the ground.
During his speech, Haslenfeld acknowledged why the rules exist, and proposed a number of solutions, such as two burning days per year.
Council had concerns over that solution, but agreed that the bylaw was worth taking a look in to.
