Local traffic is starting to move after a vehicle fire closed Highway 16 east of Burns Lake.
RCMP says a loaded lumber truck caught fire near the Babine Forest Products entrace along the highway around 12:30 a.m.
Burns Lake Fire Rescue says a transport truck was fully engulfed in flames when crews got to the scene, but the driver got out unharmed.
The transportation ministry said earlier that Highway 16 was open to single lane alternating traffic with a detour through the Babine mill yard.
It now says the highway remains closed with a piloted local detour available.
