Skeena- Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen is calling a Federal Court ruling made yesterday a huge win for wild salmon.
Cullen was speaking on the Court’s decision to overturn a DFO policy allowing salmon to be transfered to open-net pens without testing for PRV.
PRV is a deadly virus which causes inflammation in the heart and muscles of salmon.
Speaking on the ruling, Cullen called it an important step forward for the survival of wild salmon along BC’s Coasts.
While he says the ruling is a huge win, he also expressed concern over the fact that it took a Federal Court ruling to force the change.
He called it stunning that it took that step to force a Liberal Government that claims to respect science to protect salmon from the disease.
