Smithers and Houston are each the victims of an air quality advisory issued by Northern Health and the Ministry of the Environment today.
In both cases, the advisory was issued due to a high concentration of fine particulate matter detected in the air.
It is recommended that residents stay indoors during the advisory, and avoid any strenuous activity.
That goes double for the elderly, youth, or those with underlying health conditions.
Woodstove use is also prohibited within the Town of Smithers and District of Houston unless it is the only source of heat for a dwelling.
