Compared to 2016, first responder and medical calls within Terrace were up by nearly 300 in 2018.
Those numbers come from the Terrace Fire Department’s 2018 end of year report, released yesterday.
In total, the department received 1244 calls in 2018, down 20 from 2017, but still a massive jump from 2016’s 975.
Most of the spike in calls comes from a jump from 570 medical calls in 2016 to 846 last year.
Medical calls made up 54 percent of those received by the department in 2018, with fire calls making up just 15 percent of those.
Among the 246 fire calls received across the year, 106 of them were false alarms.
In 2018, the Department’s 24 crew members spent a total of 35,606 hours on-call.
