A University of Northern British Columbia student has recorded a new first for the school.
PhD candidate Daman Kandola has been awarded a 2018-2019 Canadian Institutes of Health Research fellowship.
Kandola is one of only 20 students from across the country to receive the Health System Impact Fellowship.
Funded by Northern Health and the CIHR, the 1 year fellowship aims to promote health services in rural and northern communities.
Daman’s 2 phase study looks in to the different ways to arrive at a hospital and the time taken to receive stroke care.
Mills Memorial Hospital, the University Hospital of Northern BC, the Fort St John Hospital, the Dawson Creek and District Hospital, GR Baker Hospital, and the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital will all take part in the study.
