A man injured in a collision involving a train near Smithers yesterday has been flown to Vancouver for emergency treatment.
At approximately 10:30 yesterday morning, a CN Rail container train headed west struck a road grader at the Lawson Road crossing.
Emergency personnel from both Smithers and Telkwa responded and extracted the grader’s operator, who was badly injured.
He was originally taken to Bulkley Valley District Hospital in critical condition before being flown to Vancouver.
There is no word on the drivers’ current condition.
CN Rail says they are investigating the incident and WorkSafeBC has also deployed officers.
