Northern Health says it’s on track to perform about 70 percent more MRI scans than it used to.
The health authority credits the installation of new MRI machines in Terrace and Fort St John, and a new replacement in Prince George for the increase.
Northern Health Regional Director of Diagnostic Services Ken Winnig says an additional 102 MRI hours of operation have been added between the Fort St. John, Prince George, and Terrace locations.
Winnig says staff expect to perform over 13000 scans compared to 7500 just a year ago and patient Karen Eldridge has noticed a difference.
Eldridge says her first MRI took 9 months from her initial appointment, while the wait time for her second scan took less than a month.
