New investments from the Federal Government aim to help Indigenous peoples find affordable housing solutions.
In total, 638 million dollars is being invested through Canada’s Homelessness Strategy: the Reaching Home program.
A community-based approach to funding distribution will give local communities flexibility in determining local priorities and initiatives.
Part of the funding will also support First Nations individuals living in community housing.
Through collaborations with Indigenous housing providers, the government is also exploring innovative, long term, solutions to Indigenous housing needs.
