BC Ferries has announced that they will be restoring service to 10 routes along the province’s coast.
Each of the revived routes, including two in Prince Rupert, are among those cut by the previous Liberal government in 2014.
MLA Jennifer Rice calls it amazing news for the entire North Coast.
More than 27 hundred round trips will be added to BC Ferry’s schedule thanks to the increases, which include the Route 11 Haida Gwaii to Prince Rupert trip.
According to Rice, the restoration of the routes will allow coastal residents to return to normal routines.
The service changes are in response to a 60 recommendation report in to the Service written by Blair Redlin, released today.
According to BC Ferries, each of the 10 routes will be back to 2014 service levels service by this Spring.
Restored routes are as follows:
Route 6 Crofton – Vesuvius
Route 7 Earls Cove – Saltery Bay
Route 8 Horseshoe Bay – Bowen Island
Route 10 Port Hardy – Mid Coast – Prince Rupert
Route 11 Haida Gwaii – Prince Rupert
Route 18 Powell River – Texada Island
Route 19 Nanaimo Harbour – Gabriola Island
Route 23 Campbell River – Quadra Island
Route 24 Quadra Island – Cortes Island
