One concerned Terrace resident had City Council torn on whether or not to allow a temporary use permit during Monday’s council meeting.
Development Services was recommending Council move ahead with a permit to allow United Rentals to store equipment on an empty Keith Avenue lot owned by A & J Roofing.
Currently the lot is zoned light industrial and has no structures, making the permit necessary to approve storage as a secondary use.
During the meeting, the owner of a residential property adjacent to the lot raised concerns over noise polution.
According to that resident, a number of new industrual properties on Keith have already caused a massive increase in noise for the residential area behind them.
Though Council largely agreed that noise polution was an issue, this particular request did meet all criteria for the permit.
In the end, Council voted 4-3 in favour of the permit, acknowledging that it may soon be time to re-examine the zoning in the area.
