The City of Prince Rupert is trying to help residents deal with derelict vehicles.
With many of the local impoundment yards full, residents have typically had few options to dispose of cars and trucks that don’t work.
In a bid to encourage spring cleaning around the city, residents can voluntarily sign over ownership of inoperable vehicles to the city and pay a $70 removal fee to have it taken away.
The City has contract with a scrap metal dealer that will remove vehicles in bulk so that they can be recycled.
Officials say the program also offers an alternative to impounding unsightly vehicles and trailers.
To coordinate vehicle removal, contact the Bylaw Officer at (250) 624 6852 and leave a message with your contact information.
More information about the program can be found at the City of Prince Rupert website.
