Five programs will be the recipients of 206 million dollars in provincial funding with the goal of improving BC schools.
Programs receiving funding include: the School Enhancement Program, Carbon Neutral Capital Program, Bus Acquisition Program, Building Envelope Program, and the Annual Facility Grant.
On the North Coast, MLA Jennifer Rice is welcoming just under 2.8 million dollars in funding for school districts in her riding.
This includes 530 thousand to the Haida Gwaii School District, 1.5 million to the Prince Rupert District, and 761 thousand to the Central Coast.
Stikine MLA Doug Donaldson was equally joyous over the 3.4 million in funding spread across his riding.
Of that funding, just over 926 thousand will go to the Bulkley Valley School District, the Coast Mountains School District will see roughly 1.6 million, and the Stikine will garner 870 thousand.
This year’s funding represents an increase of more than 20 million dollars compared to just 2 years ago.
