Five programs will be the recipients of 206 million dollars in provincial funding with the goal of improving BC schools.
65 million of that will cover safety improvements and mechanical upgrades at more than 120 schools thanks to the School Enhancement Program.
At a price tag of 13 million dollars, 81 new school buses will be put in to service under the Bus Acquisition Program.
Funding of 8 million dollars will go to the Building Envelope Program to help schools that suffered water damage recover.
19 school districts will become more energy efficient as they split 5 million dollars from the Carbon Neutral Capital Program.
Finally, 115.5 million dollars will go in to the Annual Facilities Grant to provide maintenance, safety, and efficiency improvements.
This year’s funding represents an increase of more than 20 million dollars compared to just 2 years ago.
