Electric vehicle owners could have a place to power up on the North Coast by next year.
Prince Rupert City Council has passed a motion to join Charge North, which plans to install charging stations from Kamloops to Haida Gwaii.
Mayor Lee Brain says joining Charge North will require the City to install two Level 2 charging stations.
Brain says up to 90 percent of the Charge North network infrastructure cost will be covered by government grants.
The North Coast Regional District has already joined the group with plans for one station in Prince Rupert and another on Haida Gwaii.
